Nepotism In Bollywood

The term Nepotism means giving favour to their relatives and friends to get an opportunity or job in any field. It is a common practice in India in almost every area. Most of the politicians raise their children to take part in the politics and similar is the case in Bollywood. Nearly every actor launch his/her children at an early age, and the young stars do not have to face any struggle to get their first opportunity in the film industry. Some of them flop and other's career get a boost in the beginning years of their career.

Some of the actors who got their first break in the films due to their family background are Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan, to name a few. While there are other actors, who have faced a lot of rejections to get their first chance in the Bollywood films.

Other Actors Involved in Nepotism

  • Salman Khan
  • Alia Bhatt
  • Varun Dhawan
  • Jhanvi Kapoor
  • Khushi Kapoor
  • Ranbir Kapoor
  • etc

The thing doesn't end here. Many times this topic arises and created controversies in the Indian film industry. One such incident is the latest arguments between Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar. On his show, "Koffee With Karan", Kangana called him "the flag-bearer of Nepotism". This issue didn't stop here, but Karan gave air to it in an award show in Mumbai. He made a sarcastic remark on Kangana and called all the film background actors "criminals'. When Kangana was asked for her reaction, she acted angrily but ended the debate calmly.

Most of the actors accept this fact that they get opportunities with ease. They do not have to face hardships to sign a film with the producers. But then they also called it a healthy trend, which is very common in every field whether it is politics or law.

This topic is sensitive because a lot of talented actors do not get a role in films just because they are not from a film family. But then there are other examples have achieved their likely place despite having no godfather in the film industry.

Many actors accept this fact that Nepotism has made it difficult for them to grab the opportunities. But if we have a look at the Bollywood career of actors such as Anushka Sharma, Manoj Bajpayee, Ayushmann Khurana then we can say one thing very confidently that if an actor is deserving, then he /she would not find it difficult to taste success in the Bollywood. After all, one can not get a role in every film just because of one's parents or known in the film industry. In the end, an actor has to perform and show its mettle to the audience.
